Dashboard Confessional new album "The Shade Of Poison Trees" in stores Oct 1st.

The album marks a notable return to the signature acoustic sound that Carrabba first developed on early Dashboard Confessional albums like 2000’s The Swiss Army Romance and 2001’s The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most. Recorded over 10 days in Florida with renowned producer Don Gilmore (Pearl Jam, Linkin Park), The Shade of Poison Trees is filled with the kind of earnest acoustic laments and smart, poetic lyrics that long ago turned Carrabba into a feverishly adored artist. While he continues to evolve as a songwriter throughout, the album is a significant return to the Dashboard of old, as well as a tip of the hat to fans that have spent the past nine years by his side. When asked why he revisited his earlier stylings he responded, “I never really left.” Originally conceived in 1998, Dashboard Confessional began as a way for Carrabba to work outside the boundaries of his then band, Further Seems Forever. His debut album, The Swiss Army Romance, was filled with intimate, soul-bearing acoustic numbers and was followed by The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, which earned him his first gold record and the MTV2 Artist of the Year Award in 2002. Prior to that honor, the band was asked to perform on the channel’s Unplugged series, resulting in the hugely successful CD/DVDMTV Unplugged V2.0. Both Dashboard’s third album, 2003’s A Mark A Mission A Brand A Scar, and the band’s most recent release, 2006’s Dusk and Summer, went gold shortly after their respective releases and earned Carrabba the respect of U2, who personally asked the band to join them on a 2005 North American tour. Over the past year, Dusk and Summer has received universal acclaim from such publications as Rolling Stone, Blender, Spin and the LA Times. The album also produced the Top 40 hit “Stolen,” which was originally serviced to radio last winter. At that point, Carrabba and his bandmates – guitarist John Lefler, bassist Scot Schoenbeck and drummer Mike Marsh – had capped off months of touring with a triumphant sold out show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. And now, Dashboard has returned with The Shade of Poison Trees, an album that is sure to reconnect with the band’s longtime fans and further proving that Carrabba has become one of the most influential songwriters of his generation. Without question, The Shade of Poison Trees is Dashboard’s most personal album yet, and, to that end, Carrabba is set this fall to embark on a North American solo tour – his first in over five years.

Thrice Signs to Vagrant

Taking an unsullied approach to the writing, recording and production of their upcoming release, the decision to find a new record label was evident and expected for Orange County’s critically lauded, Thrice. Assuming control of their creative direction, Thrice has parted ways with Island records after releasing 2003's The Artist and The Ambulance and 2005's Vheissu, and have signed with Vagrant Records, on which they will release the four-volume Alchemy Index.

The Alchemy Index: Vols. I & II Fire & Water will be released on October 16th, 2007, with The Alchemy Index: Vols. III & IV Earth & Air to be released in Spring of 2008. The specific details about this ambitious project will be revealed over the next few weeks.

Stretching their innovation even further Thrice’s, Dustin Kensrue, Teppei Teranishi, Riley Breckenridge & Ed Breckenridge, expressed their musical diversity resulting in their most stunning effort to date. The Alchemy Index is an uncompromising artistic collection that represents the band’s evolution and shatters conventional boundaries. This quartet prides themselves on continually pushing the envelope creating the dynamic sound they call their own. It is this equilibrium that helps the band develop such richly crafted tracks and in doing so, it raises the bar once again for all that follow.

In support of the first installment of The Alchemy Index, Thrice will be headlining a 9 week – 42 date U.S. tour with Brand New.

Over the course of the next ten weeks, Thrice will release one video snippet per week giving the fan a hint of what is yet to come. Here is the first of ten.
