Thrice's To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere Released Today

Today, Orange Country’s Thrice released their ninth studio album, To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere. The album was produced by Eric Palmquist and is comprised of eleven tracks that showcase why Thrice have remained a staple in the post-hardcore world. “It’s maybe my favorite record we’ve ever made,” says frontman Dustin Kensrue.

When a band announces a hiatus, the news is generally met with a sigh from the fans and the sinking feeling that this is it; it’s all over. But back in 2012 when Thrice pressed pause on their collective career there was little doubt in singer Dustin Kensrue’s mind that this was the respite he needed personally, and that this would mean the band could eventually continue creatively.

It wasn’t till around Thanksgiving 2014 that Dustin fired off a group text that would start to bring their lives back together. Sent after he and Teppei caught a particularly inspiring Brand New concert, the wheels were slowly set in motion. Due to their disparate living locales, the quartet began to share scraps of songs and ideas online, a process that’s commonplace for many, but somewhat foreign to a group used to thrashing out the majority of a record together in one room—and of course, they eventually did. In January and February 2016 Thrice reconvened in Southern California for a period of six weeks to lay down their ninth album, To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere, with the help of Palmquist.

For this record the singer found he was variously inspired by Stephen King’s seminal book On Writing, philosopher Seneca the Younger, and his feelings on modernity’s relentless connectivity, not to mention the relentless updates of news at home and around the globe.

Dustin calls To Be Everywhere… his most vulnerable and most politically-minded album to date.

In celebration of To Be Everywhere’s release, Thrice will be hitting the road next Friday with La Dispute and Gates kicking off with a SOLD OUT show at The Shrine in Los Angeles. A full list of dates can be found HERE.

Thrice Announce Ninth Studio Album, To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere

After a hiatus from writing and touring, Thrice is back and gearing up to release their ninth album. Fresh out of the studio with Eric Palmquist, the Orange County quartet are pleased to announce To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere will be released on May 27, 2016.

Today, fans can hear a brand new song off the record, entitled “Blood on the Sand.” “After watching a year of fear make people do terrible things, and now on the precipice of more of the same, this song is an anthem for anyone that’s had enough of it,” says frontman Dustin Kensrue. Listen to the track for yourself on Soundcloud, and download it instantly when you pre-order the album on iTunes.

Thrice has been a staple in the alternative/modern-rock world for over fifteen years. A band known for effortlessly and continuously releasing groundbreaking records, their discography has sold over a million copies, and they’ve toured the world with acts like The Deftones, Coheed & Cambria, Rise Against, Circa Survive and Brand New.

Thrice released their first proper full-length, Identity Crisis, in 2001 and quickly stormed to the forefront of the indie music scene as listeners rejoiced and formed what can only be described as a cult following. The band went on to release seven highly praised albums – fan favorites The Illusion Of Safety (2002), The Artist In The Ambulance (2003) and Vheissu (2005), the brilliant and eclectic four-part concept album The Alchemy Index: Fire and Water (2007) and Earth and Air (2008), the visceral and raw masterpiece, Beggars (2009), and a grunge-inspired follow-up album, Major/Minor (2011).

In celebration of To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere, Thrice will be hitting the road in June with La Dispute and Gates. A full list of dates can be found HERE.

Dustin Kensrue's Live Covers Album, Thoughts That Float On A Different Blood, Available Today

Singer-songwriter Dustin Kensrue’s third solo album, Thoughts That Float On A Different Blood, is available today! Earlier this week Dustin held a fan poll and the cover that received the most votes was Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” If you haven’t heard it yet, listen below.

Comprised of ten tracks, the live cover album serves as a follow up to 2015’s Carry The Fire which Billboard hailed “tuneful, infectious…a folk framework with a rock backbone.”

“For years I've peppered my solo sets with a variety of cover songs,” notes Dustin. “Playing a cover song is a bit like stepping into someone else’s skin for a moment, inhabiting a story that came from somewhere totally outside of your experience and even your imagination. The new record is a sampling of some of my favorites that I've tried on over the years. It’s a challenge to find songs that will really shine when stripped to their bones and these have all proved their worth.”

Thoughts That Float On A Different Blood showcases Dustin covering some of pop-culture’s most important songs, both past and present, from artists such as Cold War Kids, Radiohead, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Brand New and The Counting Crows to name a few. See the full tracklist and grab the album at one of the retailers below.

Dustin Kensrue Premieres His Take On Brand New's "Jesus Christ" Via Noisey

Singer-songwriter Dustin Kensrue will be releasing his third solo album, Thoughts That Float On A Different Blood, on March 18th. Today, you can listen to Dustin’s take on Brand New’s legendary ‘Jesus Christ’ via Noisey, who claims “the cover follows the original's rise in intensity, allowing Kensrue to both play the fuck out of the guitar, and instill the song with the same emotion and sincerity that made so many fall in love with the original.”
