Dustin Kensrue Enters the Studio to Record New Solo Album

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Dustin Kensrue has entered the studio and is currently recording the long anticipated follow-up to his 2007 solo debut, Please Come Home. The new album is expected to be released next spring on Staple Records/Vagrant Records. Kensrue, known for his dynamic solo performances and as frontman for Southern California rock band Thrice, is engineering and producing the record on his own.

Recording right now is for me the end of a long distilling process,” said Kensrue. “I always have bits and pieces of songs that are bouncing around in my head. I usually record them and listen back later, and most of the time I can’t remember why I even bothered to record them in the first place. But then there are the tunes that stick – the ones I find running over and over through my head, demanding to be finished. Begging for a home. The most persistent of these tunes from the past 8 years are what I’m busy recording right now, and there’s nothing I’d rather be doing.

On November 26th, Kensrue will be performing at the 5th annual Thanksgiving concert, The Stuffing, in Atlanta, Georgia with Manchester Orchestra and O’Brother and more. Following that, the 2014 edition of the ‘Where’s The Band?’ tour will kick off in mid-December. All dates and ticket links can be found HERE.

Kensrue has also recently been confirmed to perform at the 2015 South By Southwest Music and Media Festival in Austin, Texas next March.

Thrice Announces Farewell Tour

Southern California’s Thrice today announces the dates for their farewell spring tour. After thirteen years together, singer/guitarist Dustin Kensrue, guitarist Teppei Teranishi, bassist Eddie Breckenridge and drummer Riley Breckenridge will begin their final tour together on May 4 in San Diego, California. The tour spans major cities in North America and is set to wrap with a hometown two-night stand at House of Blues in Anaheim followed by the final show in Los Angeles at Club Nokia. In November 2011 Thrice announced that the band would be taking an indefinite hiatus following the spring tour.

A limited number of tickets have been held for Thrice fans and will be available through an exclusive Ducat King presale that begins Thursday, February 23 at 12pm local. You could buy tickets HERE. Tickets for the general public will go on sale Thursday, March 1 at 12pm local time.

Thrice will be recording live audio at select stops along to the tour for a proposed live album slated for release in late 2012. Supporting Thrice on all dates will be Animals As Leaders with more information including the announcement of additional support bands and details of commemorative merchandise available at the shows will be announced in the coming weeks.
Thrice released their first proper full-length, Identity Crisis, in 2001 and quickly stormed to the forefront of the indie music scene as listeners rejoiced and formed what can only be described as a cult following. Thrice went on to release six highly praised albums – fan favorites The Illusion Of Safety (2002), The Artist In The Ambulance (2003) and Vheissu (2005), the brilliant and intricate four-piece concept album The Alchemy Index: Fire and Water (2007) and Earth and Air (2008), and the band-centric masterpiece, Beggars (2009). Thrice released their most recent full length, Major/Minor last September on Vagrant Records. Thrice has become a staple in the alternative-modern-rock world for nearly ten years now and is known for effortlessly and continuously releasing groundbreaking records.

Thrice was recently recognized by their local music community with the announcement that the band has been nominated for Best Album (Major/Minor), Best Song (“Promises”), and Best Rock band for the 2012 OC Music Awards. In addition, the band will be honored with an Orange County Impact Award when the awards ceremony is held on Saturday, March 3. More information can be found HERE

Thrice Premiere First Song from Major/Minor, Announce Fall Tour

Thrice is celebrating the release of their upcoming 7th studio album, Major/Minor available September 20th, 2011, by offering up a FREE download of the album's first track, "Yellow Belly." Listen to the opening song below, and click the little down arrow for the free download!

Thrice - Yellow Belly by VagrantRecords

The recording of Major/Minor began May 2nd in Santa Monica, CA with Dave Schiffman at Red Bull Studios who mixed “Beggars” and engineered “Vheissu.” As a band that continues to push boundaries, Major/Minor will be no exception.

“It’s definitely the most natural progression from record to record that we’ve had in a while. We did The Alchemy Index, which was totally different [from Vheissu]. Then Beggars was kind of the reaction against that. This kind of makes sense coming out of Beggars, but it’s definitely a different record,” says lead singer Dustin Kensrue. To watch a behind the scenes look at the making of “Major/Minor” please stop by THRICE.net

The band has also announced dates for their upcoming fall tour with special guests. The ticket pre-order link is http://thrice.ducatking.com and the presale begins Monday, July 25th at 12PM EDT. The public on sale begins Monday, August 1st at 12PM EDT.  Full dates below.
