Black Joe Lewis' New Album Electric Slave Out Today

Black Joe Lewis’ new full-length LP Electric Slave is out today! Grab the new album now at iTunes, Amazon, or the band's official store.

Electric Slave has received much acclaim so far, with Consequence of Sound saying “This professional outfit puts together incredibly tight blues rock, funk, soul, and more, all without missing a single beat” and the Boston Globe proclaiming, “Lewis and his backing quintet keep the heat on through 10 more garage-blues tunes that conjure Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, James Brown, and a youthful Rolling Stones.”

Black Joe Lewis will tour North America supporting Electric Slave beginning in September, and will also play a handful of “Electric Texas Takeover” in-store dates at record stores in Houston, Dallas, and Austin this holiday weekend. Stream Black Joe Lewis' New Album Electric Slave via Paste, West Coast Dates Announced

You can now listen to Black Joe Lewis’ forthcoming album Electric Slave a week before release via Paste Magazine! Click HERE to stream the new record in its entirety. Most of Electric Slave was produced by GRAMMY award winner Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power, Modest Mouse) and recorded at Church House Studios in Austin, TX. Three of the new tracks (“Skulldiggin,” “Dar Es Salaam,” “My Blood Ain't Runnin' Right”) were recorded and produced by John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, St. Vincent, Okkervil River) at Elmwood Studios in Dallas.

Electric Slave is now available for pre-order in various formats at iTunes, Amazon, and the band's store. All iTunes and band store pre-orders of the new album include an instant download of “Come To My Party.”

The band will tour supporting Electric Slave beginning in September, and have just announced a number of West Coast shows this November and December, including Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on December 5. All of the newly announced dates go on sale this Friday August 23. There are also a handful of “Electric Texas Takeover” in-store dates at record stores at the end of August and beginning of September. For the band’s full itinerary, please see below.

Black Joe Lewis Announce New Album Electric Slave to be Released 8/27, Free Download of First Track "Skulldiggin"

We are excited to announce that Black Joe Lewis will release their brand new full-length LP, Electric Slave, on August 27 via Vagrant! Most of the album was produced by GRAMMY award winner Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power, Modest Mouse) and recorded at Church House Studios in Austin, TX. Commenting about the new album’s title and thematic elements, Joe himself said "Electric Slave is what people are today with their faces buried in their iPhones and the only way to hold a conversation is through text. The next step is to plug it in to your damned head. Nothing is up front anymore and people are de socializing."

The band have also just unveiled an upcoming North American tour supporting Electric Slave. The band will hit the road beginning in September, playing a number of shows along the east coast including a show at New York’s Terminal 5 on September 26 with Okkervil River and Pickwick.
