The Grates to Release Secret Rituals on July 10, 2012 on Vagrant, First Single Available Now on iTunes

We are excited to announce that Brisbane, Australia indie rock duo The Grates will be releasing their third album, Secret Rituals, in the US on July 10, 2012 on Vagrant Records.

Previously released in their native Australia to immense critical and commercial success, Secret Rituals has an American pedigree. Singer Patience Hodgson and guitarist John Patterson moved to Brooklyn, New York in 2010 and over a period of 18 months wrote all the songs for Secret Rituals. The Grates then recruited local drummer Ben Marshall to join them to record the album, which was produced by Gus van Go, Werner F and The Grates at Boiler Room Studios in Brooklyn and mixed at Electric Lady Studios by John O'Mahoney

The Grates commented, "Awesome news, send a letter to the editor, The Grates are kicking ball with Vagrant Records. Heck Yes We Are! Sorry you're cutting out... the phone reception ain't too great Over The Moon! Secret Rituals came from two amazing years of living in America, now we're thrilled that's it's getting a release through Vagrant in it's spiritual home. And conceptual home. OK, it's home (just don't tell anyone in Australia I said that OK?)."

"We had the best time touring, writing and recording in the States. I miss our tiny apartment and I even miss the gross smell of the small, grey carpeted band room in Gowanus, which we made havoc and joy in 5 days a week. There are no good Spanish radio stations in Australia either. Not that we can draw parallels between Spanish radio and Secret Rituals but we sure did eat a lot of tacos. We grew legs, we were snowed in, we were robbed, we were blessed by fireflies and blessed by Ben, who really saved us when we found ourselves without a drummer. Ben Marshall we love you. If Brooklyn wasn't so cool maybe we could convince him to live with us in Australia. OR maybe we just need to come back with the release of Secret Rituals! Bags already packed, Guys!"

The first single, "Turn Me On," is available today on iTunes. Click HERE to purchase the track and check out the official video that has over one million plays below!
