Check Out What People are Saying About The Elected's Summer Tour

The Elected has been hitting the road across the country on their headlining tour this summer, and everyone from diehard fans to those new to the band’s music have been taking notice.

“If you’re a fan of The Elected, I can tell you that disappointment won’t be in your vocabulary after a live show,” Music Defined wrote about their show at Schuba’s in Chicago. “If you’ve never heard of them and this is your first exposure to the band, I recommend you go check them out.”

Speakers in Code said about the band’s Chapel Hill show at Local 506, “…what a great evening of music. Sennett and The Elected were, of course, as strong as ever.”

“The ‘vibe’ was very laidback, allowing Sennett’s lyrics to weave a conversational web around the audience, and ensnare us in his musical storytelling,” the Dig Boston remarked about the show at Brighton Music Hall.

Additionally, they wrote, “The concert was quintessentially Elected-esque in that it invoked a shimmery sadness, the under-the-surface ache of a heart so full—of loneliness, of love, of a twinkling regret—that it could almost burst.”

Music Savage caught the same show and put it best when they said, “If you love well-written songs that are easy to bob your head to, catch The Elected at their next live show.”

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out what everyone has been talking about at one of their remaining shows this summer!

The Elected Reveal Bury Me In My Rings Cover Art by Acclaimed Fine Artist Mark Grotjahn

The Elected today revealed the cover art of their forthcoming album, Bury Me In My Rings, created by celebrated, Los Angeles-based artist, Mark Grotjahn. Bury Me In My Rings is due for release May 17th on Vagrant Records.

Known for his iconic modernist compositions, the elegance of Grotjahn’s work is often tempered by scuffs and markings that attest to the contingencies of process in his otherwise highly controlled pieces. Grotjahn's solo exhibitions have included shows at the Hammer Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art. His work has also been exhibited in group exhibitions at galleries and museums such as the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Royal Academy in London, the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburg, and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Bury Me In My Rings was produced and recorded by frontman Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley guitarist/co-songwriter) with help from Jason Cupp and longtime Elected contributor Mike Bloom. The result is a thoughtful and deliberate pop album layered with soulful harmonies and a sunny disposition, and is easily The Elected's most impressive work to date.

Expect to see The Elected playing worldwide in support. The complete track list is below:

1. “Born To Love You”
2. “Babyface”
3. “Look At Me Now”
4. “Jailbird”
5. “Go For The Throat”
6. “This Will Be Worth It”
7. “Trip Round The World”
8. “When I'm Gone”
9. “Who Are You”
10. “Have You Been Cheated”
11. “See The Light”

The Elected to Release Bury Me In My Rings May 17, 2011 on Vagrant Records!

LOS ANGELES, CA – February 17, 2011 – The Elected and Vagrant Records are pleased to announce the release of the band's newest album, Bury Me In My Rings, on May 17th. Produced and recorded by frontman Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley guitarist/co-songwriter) with help from Jason Cupp and longtime Elected contributor Mike Bloom, Bury Me In My Rings is complete with twelve shimmering pop songs reminiscent of mid-century West Coast rock.

"I played most of the instruments myself, so it was easier to erase stuff without hurting anyone's feelings,” Blake comments. “This time I just thought, better take it as far as I can alone...then bring in my friends to fill in the blanks.”

The result is a thoughtful and deliberate pop album layered with soulful harmonies and a sunny disposition, and is easily The Elected's most impressive work to date. Simply put, people just don't make pop albums like this anymore.

Bury Me In My Rings is The Elected's third full-length release, and first on Vagrant. The band released its previous albums, Me First (2004) and Sun, Sun, Sun (2006) on Sub Pop Records. After another Rilo Kiley album and tour, followed by an extended break, Blake had retired from music, or so he thought. Tucked away from the limelight, and amidst a soul-search-inducing home renovation project, Blake decided it was time to make a record.

"I find that with records, I always have the strongest feelings about my most recent work," says Sennett. "Sometimes it sucks; other times I made my favorite record. This time, I can safely say it's my favorite."

Bury Me In My Rings will be unveiled on May 17th via Vagrant Records. Expect to see The Elected playing worldwide in support.

Bury Me In My Rings Tracklisting:
1. Born To Love You
2. Babyface
3. Look At Me Now
4. Jailbird
5. Go For The Throat
6. This Will Be Worth It
7. Trip Round The World
8. When I'm Gone
9. Who Are You
10. Have You Been Cheated
11. See The Light
12. Time Is Coming
