Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes Announce New Album and Tour Dates

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros have announced that they are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to their debut album, Up From Below. After an early session in Bogalusa, LA, the band has been recording at their studio in Ojai, CA. The album, which is self-produced, will be released on May 29th by Community Music / Vagrant Records.

"The making of this album has spanned a time of immense perseverance and, thankfully, co-creation,” said frontman Alex Ebert. “Making this album has been a test of our faith in ourselves and in the universe, and brought us closer together and in greater harmony with one another... A deluge of music has been written and recorded, and we are intensely excited to share it with anyone who wants to feel it."

Hailed by Spin Magazine as a “perfect example of rock’s new order,” Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros will hit the road this March, playing a run of dates showcasing some of the new music and giving fans a taste of what’s to come. Tickets for these upcoming shows can be purchased HERE.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros recently created and launched a tumblr page to showcase various fan pieces they have and continue to discover on the web as well as their own yet to be unveiled special content. The tumblr page is a central place to dive into the community that is Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, and will be continuously updated by the band.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will break out of the studio in March to play a select run of dates showcasing some of the new music they have just recorded. Pre sale tickets will be made available for these shows tomorrow. Wednesday, January 18th at 10am PST. The rest of the tickets will start to be available Friday, January 20th. The band has created a tumblr site that will feature things that they find on the web as well as special pieces of content from within, that haven't yet been exposed. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons, and Old Crow Medicine Show Announce ‘Railroad Revival Tour’

This April, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Mumford & Sons, and Old Crow Medicine Show will embark on a tour unlike any in recent memory. Traveling exclusively in vintage railcars, the three bands will journey across the American Southwest over the course of a week. The aptly titled Railroad Revival Tour will feature the three bands playing concerts at six unique outdoor locations along the route, beginning April 21st in Oakland, California.

The Railroad Revival train is 1,500 feet long and consists of 15 vintage railcars from the 1950s and 60s, pulled by two locomotives. The bands will eat, sleep, and record on the train as they travel across the American Southwest, bringing their collaborative vision to fans from California to New Orleans. The bands will have equal billing and equal time on stage, in an environment that encourages creativity and cross-pollination. The entire tour will be the focus of a documentary that captures the spirit of the journey and gives intimate insights into the creative process.

When asked about the inspiration behind the Railroad Revival Tour, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros commented, “From hobos to the wild west, trains have always been a fascination of mine. This tour is going to be rad."

Tickets to The Railroad Revival Tour go on sale Wednesday, March 9 at 9 am PST (10 am MST, 11 am CST, 12 pm EST). Tickets are available exclusively through RailroadRevivalTour.com. Each ticket will include an MP3 download of live recordings from the tour as well as a commemorative ticket custom-designed for each site, with no additional service fees.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros announce London shows at The Old Vic Tunnels

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros will head to the UK in March for three very special shows at the Old Vic Tunnels in London. The band will be headlining as well as curating the event, which will include performances from other bands, artists and film screenings.

The venue is new. The actor Kevin Spacey personally invited the band to perform at this unique space, a maize of underground rooms and tunnels that hosted some of the most innovative exhibitions and performances of last year. For more details, visit Old Vic Tunnels.

Throughout the three nights, guests will be entertained by a multitude of non traditional performers in an atmosphere and setting that is derived directly from the mind of the band themselves. The Old Vic Tunnels will be transformed into a new frontier, the Wild West on planet Mars, lunar deserts and red skies, the design inspired by classic films such as Holy Mountain and El Topo along with newer psychedelic western films like Renegade, giving the audience an extraordinary experience.

The shows will take place ahead of lead singer Alexander’s solo record, due for release in April. The band are currently working on their second Edward Sharpe album, due out this summer.
